Hello AVS Member,

I just picked up my ASUS VH236H which I am enjoying very much. I have it hooked it to my PS3 via HDMI. Everything looks good, but I am stumped as to why I cannot watch Planet Blue. I'm pretty sure (not 100%) that the PS3 is set to 1920 x 1080... when I try and watch Planet Blue, I get no display from the monitor except the bouncing "OUT OF RANGE" window. What am I doing wrong? Am I missing a step or setting on the monitor or PS3?

Cheers

I use an Asus display via DVI and see the same thing unless I change the BD player to output 720P. It will not accept 1080.

Ty for the replies guys. No I have not tried that. I will try both 1080i and 720p when I get home. I'm guessing I check 720p 1080i and not 1080p on the PS3 correct?

I don't understand this though, isn't the monitor advertised as being able to do 1080p?? Still baffled I can't watch blurays in 1080p on this, even when my desktop is displaying @ 1920 x 1080 with no out of range message, but I'll try your solutions and let you know if it works or not.

A lot of 1080p TVs do not accept 1080p/60 over HDMI or component since 1080p/60 is not an ATSC digital TV standard wherea 1080/60 and 720p/60 are. These same TVs however will often accept 1080p/60 over VGA. Check your monitors user manual for what resolutions it will accept overe each interface type.

TY For the heads up Walford.

So no luck tonight. I tried setting the PS3 to 720p and 1080i and also tried 720p only. I simply cannot watch Planet Earth on this monitor, making me wonder if I can watch any blue ray movies. I'm a bit peeved, but I only paid 149 for the monitor.

Here is what the User Guide lists...

Mode Resolution H(KHz) V(Hz) Pixel(MHz)

VH236/VH232 HDMI Supported Primary Timings

1080P

1920x1080P 56.25 50 148.5

1920x1080P 67.433/67.5 59.94/60 148.352/148.5
