While in the vast minority, I really enjoyed the North Texas State University
symphonic concert last night on HD NET. While not the Cleveland Orchestra, the performance of the Dvorak Cello Concerto by this group was excellent.
Once again HD NET comes through when no one else can. Where are the LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER telecasts from PBS, or better yet the Grand Opera we used to get from the Met.
While my ears are not what they used to be, the 5.1DD audio had a full frequency range as well as a great dynamic range. The bass may have been over emphasized , but boy did the Velodyne thump or what. And they say it is all in the picture.
That University has a great music program. They have one of the finest University jazz bands in the country, and much of the music I played in my University jazz band was arranged by them.
