I am looking for some advice on whether I should use b1 or the b2 for use as surround? Is there any difference other than bass or should i just stick with the b1s since I am using a subwoofer? I am using the F2s as the mains and the asc1 as center. The b1s are rated at 125w and the b2s at 150 and my receiver is rated at 130w to each channel so should that be of any concern?

I use (3) AS-C1's for my LCR and (2) AS-B1's for my surrounds with an AS-P400 sub.

The AS-B1's sound great, they are all you need!!

Don't worry about the power ratings of the speakers/receiver at all.

Darryl, can you tell me how the Athenas sound with regular stereo CD's. I am trying to decide whether to leave my stereo system behind and switch to a multi-channel system for music and DVD's/HDTV.

pmccaffrey:

I have the Athena's that I listed above, powered by a Yamaha 5760 receiver.

They sound awesome!! I listen to all my 2 channel CD's in "7 channel stereo" (tweaked to my liking) and the sound field is totally enveloping.

The Athena's have a lot of punch and can play VERY loud without any signs of strain. (I use a 60hz x-over point).

The mid range is damn near perfect, and paired with the Yamaha 5760, they are not at all "bright" (I say "harsh"!!). Also, they have more bass than I would have expected.

In a blind test, I would think my system would cost a whole lot more than what I paid for it.
