Athena's or Polk's??

413 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  johnsojs
I'm considering getting either the athena point 5's with the dayton sub, or the polk Rm6800's that come with a sub. Might pair the athena's with a Harman receiver or the polk's with an onkyo. Anyone have any opinions of how these two sets of speakers sound. Any information is welcome.

I have an H/K 430 (firmware upgraded) and the Athena point 5's in a 15' wide by 25' deep great room. I also have a HSU STF-2 Sub. I got everything in late summer 2004 at exceptional prices except the HSU - paid the Comp USA full retail. I am very pleased with the setup, but wonder if a stronger pair of mains (AS-F1s?) and moving two of the point 5's to a 7.1 setup wouldn't beef up the sound more. Not that I'm displeased, still tweaking the system. Can't crank it too often, the baby gets scared and Mama gets cross ;)

They setup sounds great to my ears! and the few times I did crank it up - Master and Commander never sounded so good on my previous system.
what was your previous system?
