i, i'm currently testing ATI 6071efg 7.70-20418m 8500LE, VE and 7500 and on all 3 cards i can't get the overlay to work on both vga and dvi ports.

This is a key feature in my setup as i have both htpc hooked on dvi and vga to lcd displays and dlp projector.

Everything goes back to normal if i reinstall older or beta drivers.

I just hope it's not something copy-protection related or forbidden in WHQL certified drivers.

Rolling back drivers at 7.68-020313m for the moment.

bye

I was using the leaked 6071 drivers, and I can only get one display at the time to show any multimedia content through Zoom (ie DVD).

I found out how you set through the drivers which screen (DVI or VGA) will have the overlay feature.

Desktop/Properties/Settings/advanced/Displays

Mine is showing two monitors, with a

- "record" button (square with a circle and a round dot in the middle)

- "resize" button

If you click the record button, you make that display active for overlay purposes, and the resize button will be selected on the other monitor.

How did you get both displays to do the "overlay" thing?

It has ever been possible using dvi and vga. Not using dvi/vga dongle.

in old drivers you can have both displays (panel and monitor) with the round symbol pressed down.

I can post a screnshot of the displays panel with 7.68-020313m.

Sorry Dubmaster...

can you clarify...

if I want to use

- dvi/vga dongle (for the projector)

- vga for the monitor

I cannot have overlay on both the displays?

No matter what driver I use?

Gnollo, if you use dvi/vga dongle then you are using the same RAMDAC and it's impossible to have the overlay on both displays. You must use pure DVI and vga, i'm afraid you'll have to buy a TFT monitor with DVI.

Anyway my worries goes to the 6071EFG that does NOT suport double overlay even with DVI and VGA.

Best regards

Grazie, Dubmaster... I guess I will have to go for a TFT monitor when I move the HTPC to the loft then...

Mmmh... strange finding.

I am using the LT150 and my CRT monitor with the 7500 (using the 6071 drivers).

I find that if I hook up the LT150z to the dvi/vga dongle then I get a sharper picture compared to the adjacent vga.

The picture through the VGA seems a lot softer.... am I seeing things?
