I was reading on some other forums the problems with the 9700 and custom HDTV resoltions if you use the dongle. However, if you use a transcoder can poeple get:

920x500

960x540

to work welll???

Does 1920x1080i work well with a transcoder (I have the AA).

What exactly is the "Overlay issue" people keep talking about?

Just got my dongle. It seems that some custom resolutions work. 192x1080i does but the text is not readable on my monitor (no wonder). So far 720x480p seems best. I haven't had any success with the 540p timings.

Would you mind listing all the resoluton you have working?

Are you using a 16:9 HDTV?

848x480 would be nice along with 1920x1080i.

I have a 9700 and Key Digital transcoder connected to my HDTV. I can do all the stock HDTV modes - 960x540p, 1280x720p, 1920x1080i. My TV supports both 50Hz and 60Hz. 1920x1080i won't work with the overlay, so no DVD, movies, etc. It is also too hard to read text on my TV, which is EDTV. It may be ok with games, but I haven't tried it.

I've also set up 640x480, 720x480 and 800x600 within the 960x540 and 1280x720 resolutions.

Basically, I've had no problems with the 9700. I moved from a 7200 and the didn't need to change the settings (9700 allowed me to add 1920x1080i)

I'm using powerstrip 3.28

I used the standard HDTV settings that came with powerstrip.

Then made my own custom resolutions for 640x480 and 800x600

Hi FrankT, how did you set up 800X600 within 1280X720?? I'm a bit confused with the resolution in a resolution thing. I have read Mark Guide over and over, still stuck. Any help would be cool.

Thanks
