ATI AIW 9800 Pro Announced - no Theater 310?!

Being that it was announced after the Theater 310 chip, I was thinking the ATI All in wonder 9800 Pro would include the just announced 310 chip with HDTV capabilities. Instead it has the older Theater 200. What were they thinking? The 9700 Pro is already a kick butt capable graphics card. I would think in order for people to want the 9800 version, they would have to throw in the Theater 310. Now I guess we have to wait another 8-12 months for the HDTV version.

The important word here is that ATI announced the Theater 310. The chip doesn't even start sampling until the third quarter 2003, so I wouldn't expect full production of the chip until the end of the year.

That's why it isn't on the 9800pro AIW....

Maybe, for once, they are waiting until they have proper drivers? Nah. Couldn't be that.

ATI may wait, but you don't have to wait. You can get a card with an HDTV tuner, match it with an ATI card that has DXVA and drive downtown.

I won't buy another AIW after I have seen how bad driver trouble can get with ATI and how long it takes to get it straightened out.
