Specific areas of performance improvement:

RADEON 9700 PRO Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic filtering performance has increased 10% in just about every game

RADEON 9700 PRO also gains appreciably in two Workstation-oriented tests:

ViewPerf 7 Unigraphics score has doubled with 7.80

ViewPerf 6 ProCDRS score is up 30%

I'm sure it goes without saying, but we'd all love a report on HTPC-specific differences noticed in the new drivers. Any change in PQ or availability of interlaced overlays is what everyone's looking for.

So anyone, please share your experiences with the new drivers, as none of us want to go through ATI driver upgrade unless it's really worth it.

Been running 2.5 for 5 or 6 hours. Image quality seems about the same as 2.4, running either VMR9 or the overlay on a 9700. 2.5 shows improved resistance to other actions (dragging another window, for example) causing disruption in DVD playback, but it's still not perfect in this regard.

Those having trouble with Soyo Dragon Ultra mb's and the new drivers, make sure you download the latest firmware updates for that motherboard.
