I have a Windows Vista MCE computer with an ATI Radeon HD4850 Plugged into my DENON AVR recevier via HDMI. All is well if i boot the pc up wile the receiver is on the PC input. With that being said if i change my input to another device than back to the pc i have no video until i activate the ATI catalyst hot key profile i created. this works about half the time and it is anoying that i have to plugin a keyboad to do this. There has to be a solution however i cant seem to figure it out.

Thank you

Disable the ATI Hotkey service. Take a look in the services section (under My Computer -> Manage) and you should see something called "ATI External Event" or something like that. Disable that service (it will require a reboot). After that, you will be able to switch your inputs no problem.

However, you will likely need to have your AVR set to HTPC during boot up with this configuration. Basically, what this does it tell the video card to not look for the monitor anymore AFTER bootup. But if you boot without the TV/AVR turned on, you can run into trouble. Just boot the PC with everything on (and the AVR set to the PC input). After that you should be able to switch away and/or hibernate the PC without a problem.
