I have a need for a portable computer that I can output custom resolutions on up to 1080i. I have seen that some of the earlier Dell 7000 machines have the ATO Rage Mobility chip. Question - can this chip (and computer) handle Powerstrip. What are it's limits??

Thanks for any help.

PowerStrip isn't validated with any mobile or integrated chips anymore, but it actually works pretty well with all mobile Rage-based chips. Problem is the Rage is ill suited for the kind of things a HTPC user wants and needs. ATI's Rage drivers do not, for instance, support any custom resolutions...

If its an option, you should be confining yourself to mobile Radeon and GF-to-Go notebooks. Avoid anything with ATI Rage, SiS, Trident or S3 - at least as far custom resolutions go (they are all decent enough otherwise, just not for HTPCs)...
