ati X1800 and X1900 series Better for HDTV than X1600 Pro?

Does the much increased throughput of the X1800 and X1900 series cards translate into better HDTV performance compared to the X1600 Pro? Or would it be a waste of money for somebody not into gaming?

Since none of them support HDCP, i personally decided to wait until one comes out with HDCP support! I even bought an X1600 but did sold it out without opening the box.

You may need at x1800/1900 to get to GPU hardware accelerated 1080p and H.264. The X1600p is good for 720p/1080i H.264.

Really more of an issue as we look forward to BluRay and HD DVD. But as mentioned above, HDCP may be more of a risk for current hardware.
No HDCP support? So does that mean it wont work with my gefen switch or projector?
You can use the current crop of video cards with HDMI and DVI projectors just fine. I am doing so myself right now (ATI X1600 to Panny AE700 via HDMI).

HOWEVER, if the eventual BLURAY or HDDVD player software implemention on a HTPC requires HDCP output, then the current generation of cards are known to not support this and the display output will be reduced or disabled (in theory).
