Like a few of you I will be getting my 45" from PCMall and expect my ATI X800 XT to arrive anyday. Has anyone had any sucess with this setup? Thanks to Phoenix for all of the excellent commentary as I'm sure it will be of great help.

Recieved my ATI X800 XT Today! I am going to install this with my Viewsonic 191b 19" monitor in preparation for my Sharp 45" which has not

arrived yet. If anyone knows of a Sharp 45" LCD owner running this configuration, I would appreciate any input you may have on setup issues.

Phoenixscreen provided alot of usefull info, however he's using NVidia.

HDNETFAN,

Looks like you get to be the vanguard of the ATI crowd. Hopefully it'll just "plug and play"! You might want to check the HTPC forum. I'm sure they've got people who have connected the ATI cards to high definition TVs.

I suggest you post this at the HTPC section as well. You may get more answeres there, especially on people using the X800.

HDNETFAN:

I'm going to be running the same configuration (Gigabyte version of ATI X800 XT), when PC Mall ships the Sharp display (hopefully around 11/1). Have you purchased the Gefen switch or are you planning to bypass the AVC box?

You should confirm this else where, but the X800 is missing a critical scaling feature the the 6800 cards have. You will need to let the video card handle scaling resolutions like 1440X1080, because the panel will only accept 1080P directly feed to it. If you plan to always run only 1080P then you should have no problem.

For me it would be a big problem because not all games support 1080P correctly or even with good perfomance for that matter..

Marcel, Hey thanks for the reply. Just like you I am primarly using this as a PC monitor, but also to play games and watch Hi Def Satalite. I'm not sure if I am using a Gefen switcher or an HD+ iScan but I am planing on bypassing the AVC and going straight into the panel. I checked out your pics of your theater and movies! Wow sure does look great! I couldn't help but notice how much alike our taste in movies is. I'm new to the forum but as soon as I can I will post pics of my home theater and my DVD's. If you get setup before me, please pm me and let me know how it went. If I get done before you I will pm you with the details! Take care.

p.s. How did people live before Science Fiction?

LaserEdge, Thanks for the tip! Do you know where you heard that? If not I am sure I will be finding out very soon. I do plan to always run 1080p as I am primarily using this for a pc monitor and watching movies on my Mitsu 73" HDTV in the same room. Thanks for the info and once I get setup I will post my results and equipment. Take care.

There was some discussion about it on the hardocp display forums. Specifially in the long thread about the new HP 23" monitor.

I can't confirm it since I do not have an X800 card. I definitely know 6800 has it. So, far I have frequently used 1440X1080 since I find many games that support widesreen resolutions, but have aspect raito probelms when doing so. It is impossible to get the AVC box to accept a 1440X1080 input.

Laser, Thanks for the info I'll check it out. I installed my x800 xt and it runs great! Should get my new LCD 45" around 11/1. I'm thinking on using a DVDO scaler if I run into too many problems.

HDNETFAN,

I got some sobering news from PC/MacMall. The 11/1 date has slipped and they are unsure if they'll receive any units in 2004. OUCH! I cancelled my order and went with monitoroutlet. Cost a couple hundred more but it's on its way.
