Here's what we've got so far for the next revision (search is down so I might have missed some stuff, if so, please add to this list).
*******
New:
Stands- What kinds are available? Who makes them?
Acronym/definition list.
Buzzing issues.
DVI/HDCP/HDMI issues - will your display be outdated in the next few years (or sooner)? (A very touchy topic and I'd like to get at least a couple of takes on this if possible).
Can the gas be refilled?
Do I really need a progressive DVD player? (We should have at least a couple of different opinions on this).
*******
Updates:
If someone usually takes one of the topics below, I've listed their name.
Models and manufacturer links (Elgaran).
Rebadges (Divvy (US), Phil Evans (UK, Europe).
Explanation of the confusing Panasonic numbering system. Even more confusing this year (reuse of last years retail package number for this years retail package- but the displays themselves are different models) (Divvy).
Changes in the search function/search outages (Divvy)
*******
I think Jim Boden has a list of questions/issues also.
*******
General FAQ issues:
Mark Rubin suggested splitting it up into several pages, how does that sound to everyone?
Font- I upped it a bit again, has it made a difference? Should we go even bigger?
********
Not FAQ related- but similar:
Welcoming new members. This came up in another thread that I can't get to right now, but should we have an official "start here" thread where new members can feel comfortable asking non-technical questions, introduce themselves and generally get up to speed on how the forum works? This is mostly a question for Mark Rubin and Gary Goodrum. Some newer people have mentioned feeling intimidated by the forum so I thought I'd bring this up.
*******
LCD- let's revisit this.
1) Should we clarify the difference between LCD flat panel and LCD RPTV?
2) Would someone like to do an LCD page for the FAQ?
********
Anything else for consideration, or is there anything above we should drop?
And a quick reminder, if you take a question, please post that you have it. If you'd like to add/clarify or do a completely differing opinion on a question someone has already grabbed and posted, please do. If you haven't participated in the FAQ yet and would like to, please feel free to jump in. Also, not everything discussed in the thread makes it into the FAQ (most does, but some topics are best handled on the board with back and forth instead of being in the FAQ).
To those who are newer and haven't seen a FAQ work thread yet, this isn't a "regular" thread. It's a work thread for the member created FAQ. Maintainers are myself and davidw.
If you are having a problem or have a question related to your display, you'll want to post in a separate thread. If you have something to contribute or find something confusing, please let us know.
Woo-hoo! Let's get this going!
