Hi,

I'm upgrading to an new PC and I am considering getting an Audigy2 Zs Gamer. The media usage for this HTPC will be an even split between gaming, DVD movies and recorded divx and mpg media. In order to simplify my cabling, I'd like to utilize a single, multi-channel cable (such as SPDIF) for soundcard directly to speakers or receiver.

I guess my question is about sound processing -- especially when watching Dolby/DTS enhanced media. Will the Audigy be able to process the sound if I am using the SPDIF connection directly to the speakers (such as with a Logitech Z-5500 setup), or will I have to get Dolby/DTS receiver and compatible speakers to process the sound (bass, equalization, etc.)? Will the DVD decoding software I'm using have anything to do with this? How will this setup effect the sound from Dolby/DTS enabled games?

Thanks for any info.
