I'm getting audio dropout/skipping. Happens about once every 15 seconds.


Setup: Asus P5B, WinXP, Sony BWU-100A BD Player, Onboard SoundMax w/ 5.10.1.6240 (latest) drivers, SPDIF Optical to Denon Receiver. PowerDVD Ultra is set for SPDIF.


Receiver indicates DD or DTS as appropriate. Audio, other than dropouts, sounds correct.


Am I correct that selecting SPDIF in PowerDVD forces Pass-Thru? Any thoughts on what could be causing the dropouts or what direction I should look to solve it? I assume neither ffdshow nor spdifer would be of benefit w/ PowerDVD?

I had this problem years ago. Solution: buy an decent audio card. There seems to be some kind of interference problem that causes onboard audio to drop out. I have haven't had a problem since switching.
