I've seen other threads discussing this but no conclusions. I get dropouts on audio using my Hughes E86 STB with the Toslink connection to my A/V receiver. It only seems to happen with the CBS digital station (in Dallas). Has anyone determined if this is a fault with the STB, or is due to some characteristic of the CBS signal??

Texasbrit,

Go to the menu on the Hughes box and under A/V setup ( I think) you can turn dolby digital on and off. I had it on and got drop outs about every 5 minutes during saturday nights games. I turned it off for Monday's game, and drops at all. It still outputs audio through the optical (toslink) connection. There must be some problem with having dolby digital on and CBS. All I know is this worked for me..give it a try.

Yes, this works fine but it's only a temporary fix. Does anyone know whether the problem is with CBS or the set-top boxes??
