hi. I have an onkyo TX SR503 receiver. hooked up to an xbox one via toslink. choice of outputs for xbox to toslink are : stereo uncompressed, dolby digital, or dts. should I feed the onkyo uncompressed signal and let it sort the processing or let the xbox do it. my main concern is bluray. if I choose uncompressed stereo will the onkyo be getting a better quality signal. hdmi idnt an option as its not supported on the onkyo. cheers for opinions!

Depends if you are running stereo speakers or 5.1 speakers. You cannot get multichannel pcm over toslink. You need hdmi which your receiver lacks. So your best option for bluray is setting dolby digital on the xbox if you are running 5.1. If running stereo, uncompressed is ok.

its a5.1 setup. seems I get a clearer stronger signal with stereo uncompressed , ill hsve to see what the receiver gets when I play a bluray. dts maybe best as most blurays I played used that format when the hd ones couldn't be due to my receiver.
