Audio - learn from my mistake

Well, I've been backing up my 8mm tapes and burning discs all week. I monitor the progress on the tv with the composite cables. I also have audio cables to my receiver, but I generally don't fire it up. Because the current 8mm had some music and singing, I decided to fire up the receiver. Horrors! Horrors! Sound only on one side! I was using a faulty/loose audio cable into the recorder all week! Although the tv is stereo, I couldn't tell because there wasn't enough separation. I checked and sure enough, all titles on the HDD have only sound on one side. MY BAD.


What a waste of time and discs. I have to start all over again. Let my misfortune be a lesson to anyone.
