Have a sonos system and AVR that I need to connect to my amp (only 1 input). Found a 2-in-1 audio/video selector switch at Radio Shack for $16. Wondering whether this will hurt the sonics or whether I should go out and invest in a preamp. Seems kind of a waste to spend hundreds on a preamp unless I can get a noticable improvement. Thanks

Radio Shack has a decent return policy. For $16 why not try it out, you can always return it if it adds any noise, or degrades the signal some way. It shouldn't.

For $16 I assume it's a passive switcher. In that case any degradation is unlikely unless the wires are really long.
