So (according to Dolby's spokesdude,) they expect players with a non-interactive pass through mode which would make HDMI 1.3 appealing to some who would want to avoid the mixdown process. Probably because they would be concerned the mixdown software reduced fidelity somehow.
Also they postulated set top boxes which did DD+ or TrueHD out.
Dolby's spokesdude did not convince me that HDMI 1.3 will make much sense in the next few years.
