Hi,

I have an Audiowerk 2 Soundcard. Will this be sufficient for my soon to be build HTPC ?

Audiowerk 2 specs: http://www.emagic.de/english/product...w2pk_2.html#td

Also, I would think the best way to hook the Audiowerk to my Surround reciever would be with the 2 digital outs.

Which cables do I use ?

Thanks,

Martin

As long as it has SPDIF out it should be fine for HTPC. I have a $10 Aureal Vortex SQ1500 (now extinct) and it works fine for HTPC for DD/DTS via SPDIF output to my receiver. Main worry is drivers for Win2K (Aureal does not support Win2K and probably not XP either as company is defunct). So if your card has drivers for your OS of choice then it should be fine. Your card looks like a nice sound card with SPDIF support so I think it should work fine for passing DD/DTS via RCA coaxial digital out port.

Running Coaxial RCA cable is pretty simple and cheap. Unlike optical cables, coaxial is a lot cheaper. 50 foot or less runs should work fine. Just make sure your cable is 75 ohm like the kind we use for Cable TV here in US. You can get RCA to Coaxial adaptors for pretty cheap ($2-3 each X 2) and use this type of cheap cabling (RG6 for $20 or less for 50 feet).
