Austin City Limits on PBS - 2007 Season in HD !!

Austin City Limits has been around since 1976, but for the first time, PBS will air each program in 1080i. I don't know what the sound format will be.

The season begins October 6th with Norah Jones, followed by The Decemberists, Explosion in the Sky, Femi Kuti, and a Tribute to Bluesman Jimmy Reed.

Nice!
Nice Norah Jones. I wish AKUS would come back on.
This is great! Well, at least for some of you....unfortunately, our PBS affiliate runs a couple sub channels which means it will still look like crap

WKNO in Memphis side converts 1080i to 720p because of their subchannels. Still looks pretty bad.
Same here in the Chicago market, except our PBS-HD channel has three subs.

Fortunately, I should be able to get it out of Milwaukee on their PBS-HD channel, which is in 1080i and has no subs.
definitely looks better than before, and sound is great, although it's likely the PBS Buffalo affiliate that subtracts from the quality, as I've seen HD concerts that have looked so much crisper
Our local KUHT runs the HD sub and two additional subs. But they couldn't even be bothered to the throw the HD switch for this broadcast.

ACL is a show that is frequently moved off the 'official' PBS national-designated timeslot. Could it be that your PBS affiliate doesn't have the hardware to record & playback the show in HD, but only in SD? In other words, if a show is being "punched through" from the national PBS-HD feed, you'll get HD, but otherwise you'll only get whatever they're capable of recording and playing back at a later date/time. (Just a thought.)
Excellent!

In addition to those posted in top post, local SF PBS KQED is also showing Wilco, The Arcade Fire, and Van Morrison from ACL.

A lot of good music coming up.
Love this show, but curious if anyone can verify what resolution ACL is actually broadcast in. Our local (Seattle) affiliate is pretty good about broadcasting in HD (albeit with too many subs), but this show looks like an upconverted signal at best (think FOX pregrame show).
1080i. The Arcade Fire cap I grabbed looks and sounds great!

this is the first season in HD. they still have rerun of previous seasons mixed in so it could be those old SD episodes that you caught.
Is anyone in Los Angeles able to watch Austin City Limits? In Santa Barbara, we only get KCET, and I've never seen it on their schedule
A Classic and great show- but very weak line up this season...

The PBS home page is showing the most recent Bloc Party show as being taped in September of '07. Did this look like SD to others outside of Seattle, as it did here?
Question. Does anyone know what happened to Austin City Limits on KERA ch13 in Dallas?

edit - OK. I received an answer from KERA directly. Not what happened and why it went away, but that it will back on 'in a couple of months'.

For those interested and in the DFW area, the REM show will be broadcast on June 19th @10pm. The initial broadcast of the REM ACL show is May 24th.
