Seems that if its not done right, it could be a deal breaker. Can anyone shed a little light on what to look for with Auto Iris....


What models have notoriously good Iris's for the price point $1.5K- $2K ..


Seems that Auto Iris is included in PJ's above $1K......

1. -- Image "pumping" when going from a bright to a dark scene (a visible delay in the change in screen brightness).


2. -- None. The only PJ that comes close is the Panasonic AE4000 at $1995 MSRP.


3. -- Try above $2K. The Mitsubishi LCD models have very good Auto Iris action. Most others are "sort of" OK on their lowest setting. Any PJ, under $2K, that has an Auto Iris (and most don't) has a poor one (except as noted in #2, above).

So, they assist with transitions from dark to light, and light to dark, I've heard talk that some of the motors and associated hardware are audible....
