Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong section:
I currently use MPC-HC on my laptop for playing all media, particularly high-def MKVs with 5.1 sound. Half of the time I plug my laptop into my HDTV/audio receiver using the laptop's HDMI out port (which is capable of 5.1 audio out as well); the other half of the time, I just watch movies on my laptop's screen using my laptop speakers or headphones.
My question is, is there a way to get MPC-HC to automatically detect whether I'm using laptop speakers or HDMI out? I want MPC-HC to detect that I'm using the HDMI port, and then automatically use passthrough for AC3/DTS.
Currently, I have to go into View > Options > Internal Filers > Transform Filters and uncheck "DTS" and "AC3" when using HDMI. Then I have to re-check the AC3/DTS boxes when I want to listen on my laptop speakers. It would be nice if this could be done automatically....
