I have a HK AVR 55 and since hooking up my HDTV cable box(scientific atlanta) I have to manually switch b/w sound modes on the HK receiver. I have the optical cable hooked up into the rec. as well as the composite audio cables into the same input but can not seem to figure a way for the receiver to autoswitch. Any ideas? or is my receiver just not capable?


I am looking to purchase a new receiver in the next few months but I would really like for this to work in the meantime if possible.

I read the owners manual for this unit, and there's no mention at all about preselecting different surround modes for specific sources or content types. So it looks like it is not possible without your intervention.
