AVI to Mp4 converter?

Is there a free program that can convert an avi file into a mp4 file? I have looked around and can only find some that cost around $40-$50. I just have a few files I would like to convert and don't want to spend a ton to do it.

Take a look at videora.com. They have free converters for iPod and PSP formats, which are mp4.
