Is there any free alternative to the Avia disks and similar products?
I'm not completely opposed to paying for such a product but it seems that if you have a PC hooked up to an HDTV it wouldn't be difficult to duplicate some of the test patterns used in Avia.
I might talking out my arse though, I've never used Avia before or really gotten into tuning my HDTV. Surely some of the patterns could be recreated as just an image you throw up on the screen with any viewer capable of doing a fullscreen mode?
Are there any similar windows applications? As long as they don't want access to the video hardware directly wine might be able to handle the task of running them.
Just wondering if anyone on this forum had thoughts along these lines or maybe a collection of images to be put to such a purpose.
