AVR 630 FL Static issue

I think I know the answer to this already, but I am going to ask for advice anyway. I just got a Harmon Karon AVR 630 off of ebay. I plugged it in, and I noticed that the Front Left sound is very very weak, with alot of static in it. At first I thought my speaker was blown. So I switched speakers with another one, and it was still producing that same problem. I believe I have traced it back to the Front Left output on the back of the receiver as not sending a good signal.

I then went on to test different speakers, different speaker wires, everything I could think of. The book even said to reset it, which I tried with no luck.

My question for advice is this: Is there anything else I can check to see wht else the problem might be? I am afraid it's a bad unit, and I will need to take it in to get it fixed...which I am not real happy about.

Thanks for any help or suggestions that are offered.

Try a Processor RESET..

Thanks for the advice. I looked up how to do the Processor reset, did it, and still the same thing. I guess I will give a Harmon Kardon fix it center, see what they say...

Thanks again
I've read about this problem with the AVR 630 all too often.

I had a 630 with a crackling static through the right front speaker, although the channel level was not weak as well. I returned my unit, for that was not the only problem with it.

Good luck!
The dropout issue is very noticeable in the unit that I have. On most DVDs, I don't have any audio for up to a couple minutes into the movie before the receiver locks in on the stream. To me this is unacceptable and I would have hoped HK would have released a patch sooner rather than later. You can look at the posts on this dropout issue and will see that HK has been aware of this for a while now and their only response is that it is coming. They can call this an upgrade but for me it's really a patch to address this dropout issue. They should have come out with a patch to fix this issue and then later release their "upgrade" for the other features they are adding.
