There's an AVR shortage out there, with slim pickings among premium offerings. But, with this deal on the Lexicon RV-9 you can get a high-end Lexicon AVR for a price that's closer to what you might pay for range-topping Denon or Yamaha models.

This is a powerful AVR with 11.1 decoding and 7.2.4 outputs. It is rated at 120 W per channel into 8 ohms (20 Hz to 20 kHz, 2 channels driven) with 7 channels of amplification. It is also rated at 100 W output into 8 ohms and 180 W output into 4 ohms with all 7 channels driven. You do need to add your own external amplifier to go beyond 7 channels, however that offers the opportunity to use this AVR to power the surrounds, while allowing beefy amps to take care of LCR duty, or perhaps the AVR handles the 7 ear-level channels, and you add a light-duty amp to handle the 4 overhead speakers. At least you've got options and plenty of power to work with.

While not necessarily the right AVR for everyone, or for every application, this Lexicon is a state-of-the-art and it is available now.
