I just purchased a pair of B&W 804s and an HTM4s. Now I'm looking for either an AVR or a pre-pro/amp to drive them. I will mostly be listening to 2 channel music but have a 5.1 setup which I'll be listening to SACDs, DVDAs and watching Blu-ray movies as well. My budget is around $2000.

I have been considering Rotel or Marantz. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

$2k is at the low end of the budget to maximize the 2 ch SQ performance of the 804s with an AVR.

I would audition the Cambridge Audio 650R or the NAD 975 or 985 (The non HD versions are available in your price range but you have to shop around)

Good luck with your search

I have the SR8002 in another setup. I like it a lot.

For these speakers I think I might have to expand my budget a little.

I was thinking the Marantz AV8003 and Emotiva XPA-5. Maybe in a year add the XPA-2 to the equation for the fronts and let the 5 drive the surrounds.

This setup will run me close to $3k to start. I can deal with that if that's what it takes at a minimum to hear what these speakers have to offer.

I'll also check out the CA 650R and NAD 985

Any other suggestions since I've upped the budget to $3000?

Thanks again
