Here is my problem I checked all threads and could not find an answer. I have AT&T uverse in the upstairs of my house my home theatre is in the basement. I want to add HD OTA signal to my home theatre room. I have off air outdoor antenna. My problem is that I do not want to add another AT&T box because of cost, OTA is better quality signal, and if I add 300 cable channels in home theatre my kids would never want to leave the room. I cant believer my AVR doesnt have any input for coax antenna input! What are my options to recieve OTA in my theatre without putting more cash into the cable companies pocket for lower quality HD content!

It depends on how much you need the audio via AVR vs. the TV and how well your TV picks up the chs near you. I know of no AVR that has an ATSC tuner, so you either need to use the one in your TV (or get an HD OTA STB). If your TV has audio out you can feed that to the AVR for audio - otherwise use the audio from the TV. For detailed OTA issues in your area, browse your local HDTV thread.

Projectors generally don't have tuners built in either. What I ended up doing was buying a Samsung DTB-H260F to tune in my locals over the air. Works really well - not sure if they're still easy to come by, though.

There is no such thing as 1080p for local channels. There is no 1080p for any broadcast HD channels. Only Blu-ray, select video games on PlayStation & Xbox, and select DirecTV & Dish Network PPV are in 1080p HD format.

You need a Digital TV tuner. Not all of them have Dolby Digital output; some only output 2 channel stereo analog audio.
