AVR with Preouts for $500-$600?

2173 Views 53 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  smokarz
Possible to get find an AVR with preouts in the $500-$600 range?

Sales, clearance, closeout, refurb, used?

Don't need the latest bells whistles, but should have multiple HDMIs inputs for various devices.

Mostly used for driving 2.2 music and some TV/streaming.

Need preouts to add amps.

Thanks,

Where can you find it for $500?
Onkyo RZ830 (Accessories 4 Less)
Where can you find it for $500?
check accessories4less.com

They have several AVRs with preouts in your price range

Refurb at accessories4less. (I suggest that you read their returns policy. I have done business with them, and would again, but some people don't like it.)

You might also contact dealers who post here, like "jdsmoothie". I haven't done business with him, but he has been very generous with his knowledge.

Marantz NR1508/NR1509 and NR1608/NR1609 all have Front L/R pre-outs only and are on clearance as their newer 2019 models (NR1510/NR1610) have been released.

Thanks for the reminder. I was informed of A4L return policies in other threads.

Thanks, I like Maranzt options as I only need 2 channels with HDMI and preouts for my living room setup.

Where can I find good prices on the older NEW Marantz?
Try Crutchfield for the Marantz new

Amazon and several other vendors also have the nr1509 and nr1609 in your price range for new units.
$400 for the NR1509 on Amazon.

Good price? Has it been lower?
Seems like the normal discounted price when they clear out previous year's model. If that is the unit you're looking for, get it

I haven't researched Marantz slimline receivers so have no clue if it was ever lower, but seems like a good price now.
Lots of good options here.

Any thoughts on the Yamaha A880, A1080, for 2.0 channel music? Overkill?
@smokarz overkill is not a real word here, even though I did just tell someone in another thread that the Yammy a3080 is overkill for his 5.1 setup. my bad!

With that said, you could even drop down to the v685, tsr-7850 (costco) or a780 as they all have LR preouts. When you go up to the a870/880 you get a little more power, full preouts and better room correction. Then up to the a1070/1080 you get more power, much better dacs and I believe the same good room correction solution as the a880.
The Marantz 6013 is around $750 at A4L, given it is being closed out, is that a good price, or would it go lower at A4L?

We're not supposed to enter into price discussions in the forums.

However, since the SR6013 can be found in multiple places for $900 new, a refurb for $750 isn't a great bargain, IMHO.
Tough choices between the Marantz slime line and the Yama A series.

I like the Marantz look, but with 50 wpc...feels like I need to get an AMP right away.

With the Yammie....at least I can live without an external amp for a while.

For reference, I currently have the Yamaha RXV673. I am getting the Polk LsiM703 coming soon, and I hear these babies need some headroom to sing.

I don’t think that headroom makes anything sing.

The difference between 50 watts and 100 watts is 3dB. Nothing big.

It all depends on how loud you listen. My guess, you never use more than 5 watts, most people do and don’t realize it.

There are some cool apps/add ons to watch price histories. "The Camelizer" with Firefox at Amazon..
