just got a dell 2005fpw and ATI TECHNOLOGIES

TV WONDER ELITE Tuner Card - Remote Control Edition

for christmas,

now my questions is this, , is the monitor hd ready and if so, should i get a different tv tunner card or should i just keep the one i currently have?

i mostly do game playing on it(ghost recon).

but my wife would like to get rid of our old setup in the bedroom and convert the pc to a tv with pvr as well .

this is my current set up

winxp- home

asus p4p800-vm mother board(my mother board does not have firewire,just usb)

1500 memory

nvidia 6600gt vid card

dvd rom

dvdwriter

dell monitor

160 gig hd

2.6 mhz intell chip

500 w power supply


any suggetions i would gladly apprectiate :D

hurry before she changes here mind ;)

It's computer monitor, not a TV. Max resolution is 1680x1050 Pixels, 720p is 1280 x720. 1080i is 1920 x 1080. The tuner you have is NOT a HDTV tuner so you don't even need to worry about that. Get a PVR program that supports your card and see what you have before looking for something else. Little more research on your end is required.

what type of cards or pvr programs do you recommends so that i get the most out of my system,

Currently I use Sage TV. I also have Beyond TV, Meedio TV Pro, Windows Media Center, Got All Media, GBPVR and MediaPortal. They all have evaluation programs (Except MCE)so you can test and see which works best for you and your equipment.
