The AIX records room at the recent AXPONA show in Chicago was one of the best sounding rooms at the show and the best high resolution surround music demonstration that I have ever heard. The equipment used was:

A modified OPPO Player -> SPDIF -> 3 Benchmark DAC2 HGC DACs -> 5 Benchmark AHB2 Amplifiers -> 5 Revel Salon 2 Speakers

This was a large room with several rows of seats and a projector. Music was presented in stereo and in 2 different surround mixes. The surround mixes were based upon audience and stage perspectives. It was nice being able to hear actual high-resolution recordings through equipment that could actually take advantage of the frequency range and the dynamics captured.

I saw several people stand at the doorway, then leave when they saw a room with more than 2 speakers. They really missed out!

I came across Mark's own website not long ago where he publishes his blogs too. Very informative and grounded in reality. A breath of fresh air really.
