My uncle got his B&K AVR 202 Series 200 receiver back from repair (free btw. nice deal for a 6+ year old unit) and I helped him hook it back up and clean a few wires up (not a pro, just helping him with my limited experience).

After I got everything working, he said that the volume adjustment on the B&K used to show up while he was watching TV. I can't see how that would be possible but he assures me it used to happen, so here I am.

How can the volume level from the receiver show up while watching the TV? The TV is connected to the cable box by coax cable line. The cable box does have other input/outputs (Time Warner box).

Thanks for any thoughts.

mhawker,

Use the line outputs from your cable box. There should be one for video and two for sound (left & right channels). Connect these to proper receiver (for example: video 1,)inputs. Then connect the receiver video output to your TV line inputs (should be marked Video 1 or Video 2 and so on). With the receiver on and the video 1 input selected, you will see the OSD on the TV. The sound will be much better through the line inputs. You can leave the cable boc coax cable attached to the TV. This way you don't have to have the B&K unit on and still watch TV.

Note:if your cable box has a digital out you can use this (for sound) instead of the analog left/right line outputs.

Also, you can visit the B&K website ( www.bkcomp.com ) and look at the manual for you receiver.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response, NPY.... but :)

With the receiver output to TV input 1 (for example) the TV would have to be set to input 1 to view the video, no?............ oooops, hold on. My brain just kicked into gear.

Hooked up that way, you'd have 2 ways to watch TV. One through the standard coax and one through the receiver via the cable boxes video out. [sounds of gears clashing coming from my pea brain]

Thanks. How obvious it is...... now ;)
