Hello, I just purchased a Rotel 1520 integrated amp, I am setting it up to my iMac and have ALAC files for music (still searching for a DAC under $500). My system will be in the living room of an apartment (about 12x13). Which speakers do you recommend, B&W CM1 vs CM5, I have listened to both at a local shop but cannot decide if $500 extra is worth it. Thank you.

you should be ok with the CM1 in terms of volume levels and ability to play cleanly but the CM5 will be more satisfying if you aren't running a sub. If you decide to run a sub, then the CM1 is fine. The CM5 has less of a droop in the mids and seems to have a better linearity in the upper bass.

Thank you so much! I decided for the CM5 since I wont be using a sub, it sounds great. For some reason to me it sounded like the cm1 had more clear and detail sound than cm5 but I liked the bass on the cm5.
