934 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Bishal Hussyn
hello

looking for expert opinions from you guys on two confusions..

problem #1

got a pair of B&W cm1 for surround but it is way too big to wall mount..

placement is a big issue so thinking about m1..

front n center is cm8 and cmc..

room size is 15*12 and 90% is movie..

will the m1 match with cm series??am i doing any thing wrong replacing the cm1 with m1??

problem #2

listen music most of the time by ipod connecting it through denon..

looking for a DAC(only for iPod and no bells & whistles)..definetely with a remote to control ipod..

thinking about arcam irdac..

is it going to improve at least 5-10% the music??

please advice & suggests and thanks in advance..

#1 Do you have to wall mount them? Why not stands? Since you're not listening to multi-channel music the M1s would probably work fine. The rear surrounds don't necessarily have to timbre-match with the front three speakers. If it were me I'd try and make the CM1s work however.

#2 Do you have the ipod connected digitally (USB) to the Denon? There's no reason the DAC in the receiver should not produce excellent SQ.
thanks for clearing about M1..

as a bookshelves speaker i love the cm1 and really wanna keep them in my room but only solution for my room is to wall mount the surround,no way to place those on stand..thus thinking about m1..

yes i do put it through the front usb..

thought an external iPod dac will make the sound even better..

I understand regarding the CM1s. Too bad. Some might disagree but it's doubtful an external DAC would make your iPod sound better. Save your money.

What kind of iPod? If it works with Airplay, you can connect an Apple TV or an Airport Express to the receiver, and the iPod becomes the remote.

Use an optical connection and it will use the DAC in the Denon; with an analog connection, it uses the DAC in the Apple TV or Airport Express.
AEX is not an option cause its a classic 120gb..

doing a lot of search but i am not getting an answer..

denon built in dac vs the stand alone dac like arcam irdac..

currently connecting the iPod through the front panel of denon and sound is ok but i like improve..

i know irdac won't support iPod classic so i will get a iPURE 20 also..

problem is i can't return those if i don't like..and both device gonna cost $700 excluding delivery+taxes..

i an actually looking for something(dock+dac within a single device to support classic) which will outperform denon's on board dac..
