In the recent The Perfect Vision. Quite a favorable review, and since I have this set-up in our family room HT system, do not disagree with their findings.

I will be going (hopefuly) for the Nautilus 804's. Its funny he mentioned a slight drop off between the 802's and the HTM1 center. Do you find that to be true? That is why I was going for the 804's...a better match with the HTM1 center.

Michael, not at all, NADA, they seamlessly integrate, BUT !!!! I am using them in a very large family room with cathedral ceilings, and I am sure that like any speaker systems the room acoustics have something to do with the sound. when I heard the same set-up in my local HT store, the sound was more compressed, and not as dynamic. They were also not being juiced by Krell amps, which I have found thru the years are the best amp by far to pair with B&W speakers.

Thanks Rick...can I ask a follow-up. The system I am going for are the 804's(fronts), HTM1(center), and the 805's (rears). My budget will allow up to the ASW3000 for a subwoofer. Some owners have told me that the ASW3000 is a bit muddy...that I would be better off with either the ASW2000 or ASW4000 ($3000). Well I don't think I can squeeze the 4000 into budget...do you have any opinions on whether I should go with the 2000 ($1000) or 3000 ($1500)?

Also beyond the question just asked...would two ASW2000's be closer to the performance of the ASW4000 than one ASW3000? I might be able to swing two ASW2000's as opposed to one ASW3000.

Any help you can offer?

Alot of people have told me to look at the Aerials...but in my attempt to keep the speaker set-up all in one family...I do not think I can swing the Aerial SW-12 sub (@ $4500) even though many have said it is excellent.

I have 2 ASW 3000 subs in my dedicated HT room, and they are not muddy by any stretch of the imagination, at least being fed by the Proceed PMDT/AVP combo. Our family room is considerably larger, and I have the ASW4000 in it, and only one is needed to shake the rafters, and run the risk of setting off the San Andreas fault which is only 2 miles from our house.

Thanks Rick and RV...I guess you have to take those owner reviews (especially from Audio Review) with a grain of salt.

Rick,

You said that you have two ASW3000's in your HT room. Is there a distinct advantage to having two subs in a set-up...as I said before I could squeeze two ASW2000's in my budget...or is two ASW2000 equal to one ASW3000? I guess you can answer the question through your experience with two ASW3000's...here would be the postulate...If two ASW2000 = one ASW3000 then also two ASW3000 = one ASW4000.

Or am I totally off the mark here...and there is some other benefit to having two smaller subs in a HT set-up as compared with a bigger one next in the product line.

Thanks again for your insight.

Michael, one of the main benefits of 2 subs, is inspite of what you may have read or been told, there is some amount of directionality to a sub. Two subs allows F/L F/R placement to obviate this effect. Also, for lesser subs (read less $$), each sub has to work less.

I find that with the ASW4000 in our family room, due to its huge woofer and amp, this is not an issue at all. And in fact, started with one ASW3000 in the dedicated HT room, and within a day ordered the second. Hope this helps,

Dear Micheal

I have:

B&W Nautilus 803 / B&W Nautilus HTM1 / B&W DS6 (Dipol, will be changing these to N805 or SCM1 from B&W)

My speakers have the cherry finish. I have heared the ASW2000 /ASW3000 and the ASW4000 from B&W.

Belive me, wait a little. Don't get a sub until you have the money for the ASW4000. First of all, you can have the ASW4000 in the same finish as your speakers and second it's a lot better than the 2000/3000.

Best luck

I have an ASW3000 which replaced a Velodyne HGS18. The 3000 is by far, a better sub, and better than most others I have heard. In fact, the only thing I know that would be better is the Aerial Acoustics sub. The 4000 is not worth the money, unless your room is VERY large. Haven't heard the 2000, but I have no complaints on the 3000 whatsoever. Integrates seamlessly with my 805's.

Dear Steve

The SCM1 from B&W hasn't been released ....I hope August/September.

What I forgot to mention: There is a new subwoofer from B&W, the ASW 2500.

It can be had in the same finish as you Nautilus speakers. The sub should be a little smaller than the ASW2000.

B&W site doesn't have any information on these two models. What a shame.

BTW the SCM1 should be around 2500$.

I don't know if the the SCM1 has been officially released, but I've seen a black pair of them at Marvin Electronics in Fort Worth, Texas...

I have had the following system for over a month now:

Front: B&W Nautilus 804

Center: B&W Nautilus HTM1

Rear: B&W SCM1

Amp: B&K 7250

Pre-Pro: Lexicon MC-1

I've recently tested the B&W DS6 for the sides.

They are not full range, but seem to work well as a

transition speaker from front to back.

I actually had 805's in the rear, and exchanged them for the SCM1's

due to the limited depth of my shelf. I did not do extensive A/B'ing,

but I do not notice any difference in sound between the SCM1's and the

805's. I would definitely recommend the SCM1 as a rear speaker.

The sound on movies is excellent, but what really impressed me was

when I set the Lexicon to MUSIC SURROUND mode. It definitely gives

new life to my CD's.
