What would be a better setup for an 805D3 + HTM2D3 given that it will be used for both Home Theater (70%) and Music (30%)

a) power both 805D3+HTM2D3 with a Parasound A31 (3x250w)
b) power the HIGHs of 805D3+HTM2D3 with a Parasound A31 (3x250w) then biamp the LOWs with an Emotiva XPA9 (200w per channel)
c) biamp the center speakers only (HTM2D3)

Forget bi-amping is my biggest input. a)!

Which power amp would you choose among the 4 choices below to power my B&W 805D3 and HTM2D3.

For sure A definitely avoid B at all costs.

Cheapest would be the parasound a31 but i would get it from usa and have it shipped to the Philippines, The rotels are available locally with 1 yr warranty. Next cheapest option is rotel rb1582 plus rb1581, both available locally with warranty.

Parasound A31, avoid Rotel is my input. Parasound create fantastic amplifiers, you can not go wrong there.

The problem is the place i would put the right surround speaker is quite tight and the depth size of the 707 is much deeper than the smaller 607 but the question is, can the 607 keep up with my other speakers? My bedroom is only small at 4m x 4.5m x 2.4m height (18sqm or 1500cuft). Amp is marantz pre plus emotiva xpa6 for surrounds and atmos and rotel rmb1858 for LCR. Subs are dual PSA3611 (18").

note: If i do get the 707, the right will be almost touching the bed. I can't really flush the speakers to the wall since there's a port at the back so i need to put some space (is 10cm enough space for the back?). Space from wall to bed is around 60cm.

707 depth = 26cm

I even wanted to get the larger 606 (depth=30cm) or 706 (depth=28.5cm) but they are much too deep.

First off, you can put the port plugs in the ports and not worry about the port, if you want. But yes, the 607 probably do ok here. It wont' "keep up" with the 805D3's and definitely not keep up with that htm2d3 center. But they should do ok and not stand out as being terrible etc.

I agree but would add that most times there is not a lot of content for the surrounds. Obviously matching all around is ideal but the 607s should do ok.

I have a setup quite similar to yours 804 and HTM2D3 as LCR. 705 S2 for SR and SL, 684S2 for Wides and Backs, and DM302 for heights.

I can say from my experience after Dirac has done its thing, I have never felt that my speakers are mismatched. B&Ws have a similar sound signature, slight dip in 4-6K and a slight rise in 8-10k and roll off at about 16K. I have measured all the speakers in the room and since the response is so similar I have never felt a speaker out of place. Also since anything except LCR are playing mostly atmospheric and are not placed in ideal listening positions (in the front where ears are the best positioned to hear) you will be really hard presssrd to hear the difference.

If you have the money and space go with 800 series speakers, but if not then go all round B&W and you will be fine.

Question about interim speaker purchase to go with my HTM1 D3. I am trying to find some preowned 802 D3 to go with it but in the meantime I need some left and right speakers. I previously owned 803D3’s with the HTM2D3. I sold the 803D3’s and bought 702 S2’s. Now I have purchased the HTM1D3. That is the most significant improvement in sound in my home theater. Thinking of buying some 805D3’s until I find the 802D3’s. Anyone think that I should find a different interim measure? I am running two subs also.

Not sure how it works in the US, but in the Nordic countries there are hardly ever any discounted prices for B&W. This is also one of the main reason they keep value so good over time. Sold my close to 10 years old 804D2 speakers for 60% of the list price when I bought them.

Do you have any dealers near you? If not, in another city near you? I have had nothing but fantastic service from my local dealer when it comes to fair pricing and trade in value. If they have a good relationship with their regional rep you may be able to squeak out a little savings.

I went from the HTM2 D3 to the HTM1D3. That was the most significant upgrade in sound quality that I have ever made to my home theatre. I would find a good local dealer to use for now and the future. If you have a good relationship with them you will get fair pricing and the ability to trade up when you have the itch.

The old B&W DB1 subs moved to the back, picking up 2 x Paradigm Persona Subs the next couple of days. LG OLED CX 77" will be delivered tomorrow; and even more important - B&W HTM1 D3 will also be delivered tomorrow
