Hello,

I am thinking about putting a small light behind my GWIII to improve PQ. I was thinking of a small can light pointing up on the wall behind the set. Any suggestions on wattage or type of light (incandescent, full spectrum, white light?)

Thanks!

I have one and it certainly helps when you are watching in a dark room because the light behind the set reduces eye strain.

For the cheapskates of the world, you can get essentially the same thing from your local pet shop for

It kinda feels right to me when I put an aquarium screen saver up and turn on the light for them.

What do you watch -- "Finding Nemo?"

You can get a specialty light for $50+ or you can buy a 24" fluorescent fixture and a 6500K daylight bulb for half that from a pet store.

I just did this upgrade. Bought 24" ficture from Lowes and found a 5K spectrum bulb (recommended by others for bias lighting) at Home Depot. Spent $30. Works great. Wil post pics this weekend.

Do those "reveal" light bulbs hit 6500K? I've always wondered.

By the way, if you are not a purist you can use just about any light behind the TV. Before I new why it worked, I had one of those blue, party lights behind my set and loved it. If you are on a budget, give some of the less-expensive options a try.

There's always more to learn ....

I chose a couple cheap $7 mini-lamps with shades and installed 15 watt bulbs and placed one each behind the main speakers. I connected them thru an X-10 lamp module for remote on/off and dimming. Being behind the speakers, I only see the light reflected by the wall. However, I'm not able to lower them to the desired output level before they go dark so I am looking for lower output bulbs.

YMMV
