Backyard Theater Basic Questions

My wife got me an outdoor screen several years ago which sat in the basement until this month when we finally got a new patio laid - so, now I'm trying to get a little bit of use with an outdoor theater set up before the snow falls.

I want to go simple (and generally inexpensive) for a setup/take down theater. I don't want to weatherproof a semi-permanent set up, and I don't want to run a lot of wires (e.g., 5.1, or a zone 2 and a long HDMI run from my home AVR, etc.).

I assembled the following, almost exclusively from b curry's recommendations (thanks!), but have a few questions on wiring:

Screen: Elite Screens Yard Master 100" - $150

Source chrome cast/phone/laptop - I have mesh and a strong signal in the backyard

So, set up should be projector at about 15 feet from screen| HDMI/USB C to phone, or chromecast, or hdmi to lap top to projector HDMI in| HDMI out to extractor and that's where I'm unsure...what's the connection between the extractor and the speakers for 2 channel sound?

Anything I'm missing or any components I could improve upon without significant additional cost/complexity?

Thanks...and right, not sure why a projector would have an hdmi out.

So digital multichannel audio is siphoned off by the extractor from the source before it hits the projector and converted/downmixed to an analog stereo signal that's being sent to the speakers through the RCA cables...sorry, one last dumb question. Do I just need one a male/male stereo RCA? And are the speakers then daisy chained? Or do I need 2 RCAs? A little confused because I see Monoprice includes what look like two male/male 1/4" mono cables.

Yes, it's male to male, and you will need two RCA cables.

It's stereo. If you use only one cable you will be potentially missing half of the audio information; L/R is short hand for left and right channels.

Traditionally, stereo audio RCA interconnect cables have been color coded red and white or red and black where the red connection is usually used as the right channel connection.

If you reference the Monoprice Stage Right owners manual, attached for your convenience, you will see on page 3 a schematic layout of the amplifier/mixer board. Item number 2, identified as "Stereo in 5/6" or channels 5 and 6. The connection can be made by your choice of an RCA cable or a mono TS 1/4" phono jack. Channels 5 and 6 have a volume control for those 2 channels marked number 4 on the schematic. Number 12 on the schematic is a Master Volume which controls all input channels at the same time in unison for the amplifier/mixer board.

There are some alternative ways to connect the audio.

If you feel a need to use the separate Treble and Bass controls present on channels 1-4, you would need 2 cables terminated with RCA connection on one end and a 1/4" TS phono jack on the other end. So L/R RCA out of the audio extractor to the 1/4" inputs of channel 1 and 2 of the mixer board.

Another possible way to connect is an L/R RCA to 3.5mm TRS phono jack cable. The input on the mixer board is item number 5 in the owner's manual which uses channels 7-8 on the amplifier/mixer board. This is fundamentally the same connection as using the RCA input connection and also uses the same volume potentiometer/volume control.

No, the speakers are not daisy changed. The Monoprice Stage Right mixer/amplifier board has two speaker outputs, one for the left channel and one for the right channel. I think this is very clearly shown in the Stage Right by Monoprice owner/user's manual.

The two male/male 1/4" TS phono jack cables are used to connect the speakers to the mixer/amplifier board. The speaker outputs are on the right hand side of the board and labeled number 1 on the rear panel schematic, reference page number 3 of the owner manual. The other end of the cable plugs into the speaker.
