On my Windows XP

the \\i386\\asms files are not being read.


It is possible for somebody to send that folder to me. The size is about 5.5 MB.


I really got bummed when this failed. If I could get this folder then I could finish the install.

I can make it even easier.


It appears to be one file in the ASMS folder.


The file that I need is called controls.man


If anyone could send me just that file i would appreciate it.

Hmm... With pressed CDs you really don't see single file errors. Check for a fingerprint or eyelash or something on the disc. I've had a waterspot cause a repeatable file error on a Win2k cd before. Took me 3 install attempts before I found it...

If you're trying to burn a copy from MSDN, there are known problems with using Nero to burn. Try using a different CD burning program.

Use the instructions posted on the microsoft website for burning with nero 5.5. If you can't find that do one of the following:


1) With Nero check "write once" and "Finalize" check boxes.

2) Use another CD burner.
