All the big players have dropped out.

Last year Sony dropped off.

This year JVC, Epson, NEC,Digital projection along with Sony will not be there!

They are saying they have found over the years there is no benitfit to the show. Ether their projector looks as good as everyone elses or it looks bad because of setup conditions, lighting ect.

Sony was there last year. They didnt' have any projectors in the big "Projector Shootout" area. But they had a full range of projectors in their area on the floor.

Are all these companies pulling out of the shootout, or pulling out of Infocomm entirely? -- Herb

While these companies may be pulling out of the shoot out, they seem to be firmly on the exhibit floor according to the INFOCOMM web site. Sony's booth alone is 11,000 square feet. Obviously some manufacturers are just not seeing the extra value of the shoot out in their show operations.

These guys don't have anything to show.

The stage is set but instead they belittle the event.

I would love to see an NFL team compain that it is too cold to play come playoff time.

Once again they are wussies.

Ps. as an example, Runco won't be there either.

I'm with you Ken, I see a lot of high priced projectors that cant hold their own against cheap sanyo lcds.

The prices on some of these projectors need to come down. The technology of a boom box at prices of new automobile.

I think Wiggles nailed it. Why show up if you know you're going to lose?

Considering some of the price tags, losing a shootout could be one heck of a marketing debacle.
