My girlfriend and I want to put a bar in the back of our home theater. I was thinking about doing a semi-circular bar and building it myself.

I was wondering if anyone has seen any plans on line for building such a thing. Or, perhaps someone here has built something similar??

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I was looking for the same thing about 6 months ago. After searching the internet over and over, I couldn't find any plans that someone didn't want money for. I ended up designing, drawing and building my own. Mine is an 'L' shape with the corner clipped. It's 4' on one leg, a 2' 45 degree angle corner and a 3' leg. See my signature for some pictures of "My Theater" that has the bar in it. It's a little far away but you get the idea. If you like I can send you my building plans. I don't have them on my computer at home, but I can email them to ya on Tuesday if you want.

Maxim...

WOW...I really dig your setup! That is a lot like what we want to do! You don't happen to have any closer shots of the bar??

Also...how big is your space? Is that a basement?

I would love to see your plans! Thanks for offering to share them. You can PM me...or I can send you my email address.

I went to Home Depot and worked with a design using cabinets. Once done, I was able to use the drawing dimensions to frame out the knee wall where the bar sink will go, then had the plumbers run all the piping. I'll use cabinets to build the bar base and book shelving on the back wall. For counters, I'll either build something or just go with granite. Not sure yet.

Maxim, how did you do your lighting for your shelving, is that rope light or EL tape?

The lighting is rope lighting snapped into clear track (from Home Depot) that is attached to the wall!

ManTown2...

Not sure if your talking to me or Rupert (who's bar looks very professional, way to go!!) but I'd be more than happy to send you a copy of my plans if you like. PM me with an email address.

Expect the drawing Tuesday sometime. I have the drawings at work and I won't be in until tomorrow!

I took some more pictures last night an will be posting them to my gallery today!

Thanks, meallen! The rail is solid cherry and the rest is cherry plywood. I'm not much of a photographer, but here are two more pics I found of the foot rail and the all-important cooler!:

MaximAvs, thanks for the compliment. Your room looks great! I wish I had the room for lounge seating, etc.

Maxim, if you are offering to send the plans for your bar, I would be happy to accept them. I love your bar, it is similar to what I am looking to do in my basement. What is the material on the front?

I have a couple shots of my bar in my gallery here. Might be the style you are looking for but you might get an idea or two.

Take care,

The front of my bar has been wrapped with batting and purple sequin fabric from JoAnn Fabrics. The batting was spray glued in place, and then the fabric was stapled in place. Once you add trim molding, it covers the edge of the fabric and the staples!!

Thanks for all the great compliments.

I'm glad to see more and more people willing to share their bar plans!!:D :D

Here's a copy of the bar plans I've been talking about. I also started a new thread by accident (sorry meallen)!! Please feel free to use and modify this plan to your liking!! I drew these up myself and so it doesn't include instructions. It's sort of an exploded view with a sheet layout on the right! I actually omitted to fridge panels (part 6) and moved the fridge to the 3' leg side on my actual bar. Enjoy!!!
