I replaced my amp board on my green tube this weekend. When I powered up the projector still no green. I thought, great-I bought a bum board. But when I replaced it with my other spare still no green. I then checked all my connections with no success.

I took off the cover again and thought-maybe I bumped the cabling when I removed or installed the boards. The cabling is close enough to catch the two slides on the back of the CRTs. Anyway, I nudged the slides a little on the Green and the tube came on!

Well my question is, what the heck did I touch and is there a setting for the two slides on the neck of the tube that is a default? They are little grips the allow you to rotate them around the back of the CRT right in front of the amp boards.

(And I know people like me should not be allowed to have electronic devices requiring user interaction:)

1) IS the CRT socket on?

2) IS the bottom connector on the CRT socket plugged into the motherboard?

3) If yes to both of those, CAREFULLY take the green G 2 (screen) control on the side of the set and advance it. If you eventually get a green raster, then back it down, and you probably have a bad RGB switcher card, the 761748. I've got stock of those.

Hi Curt,

I will check tonight. Am I correct in thinking the CRT socket would be the very back of the tube? If so I just follow the cable down to a board and see if the connection is tight I take it.

Maybe this is a side effect of putting in the new amp board and I need to adjust my R and G G 2s but my B is turned all the way down and I still have a bluish cast to the picture. But like I say, I haven't adusted it since removing and installing the amp board.
