Is it really an 8" 808s inside these RPTV sets?

Is it possible to pull the PJ out and use it - would there be any downside to it?

Yes, and no.

Yes there is really an 808 inside, and no I don't think with the Barco's you can just pull it out and use it.

The Marquee's are just a full projector sitting in a cradle, but I think the Barco's are a unique configuration with LC tubes and lenses, and fixed toe in positions. I'm sure its "possible" but why ? They usually hold their value to the point where it would likely be more economical to just buy a good 808.

Yes the conversion to front projection is possible but you probably don't want to do it. See this link:

GN2 is also correct on the price. As I have seen Barco Retos hold enough of their value as to make the hassle of conversion not worth it. In fact at the low end they go for a premimum. However if you want an excellent rear projector it woud be great.
