I have just got my barco vision 700

after pluging it it and converging it all when i switched to a external source the picture start to flash on all three tubes mainly at the top of the image

Do i need a new input board or something like that and where would i be able to source barco parts.

Thanks

I have not heard of this problem. The problem with the 700 series is that they are not nearly as modular as the 500 and 800 series are. Parts are scarce, and you pretty much have to troubleshoot and repair whatever board the fault is on.

Are the tubes tired, and are you pushing them too hard?

The tubes look in good condition i have tried adjusting every setting there is with no luck.

It only does it with an external input but the convergence grid is fine

and it doesnt do it all the time it just flickers on for a while and then goes.

could there be a bad earth somewhere or something.

I have a Spare one of these :) i might try swaping the input board well the board at the bottom beneath the tubes like you say not very modular.

The second unit i have wont power up but i havent even began to look at why yet cause it has a hole in the blue phospher like a big scratch. This is the second time i have seen scratches on these tubes are they sd 187 like the sony 10xx series ??

Try changing the sync from fast to slow. It's in one of hte menus there somewhere.

As for the second set, do NOT swap modules from the burnt blue CRT projector to the working one. You have a bad circuit that kills tubes somewhere...

Another local forum member did this once after I told him not to, and he ended up nuking a full set of tubes.

What source are you using? My buddy has a 701 s, and it will not accept any signal from his Samsung standalone dvdplayer. We have tried RGBS (scart) Svideo and composite, it gives a similar responce to what you are describing. We thought it looked like a macrovisionproblem, but it can't be that.

When we feed it from a HTPC through an Extron syncconverter, all is well, also his vcr works perfectly with the composite input. Is it possible that these units are extra picky about the syncsignal?

I have swapped heaps of parts across ( before reading your post Curt)

Luckily nothing died and i think that what i saw on the blue of my second pj might have been dust or dirt but im going to take it off to have a look.

I havent had any luck at all swaping parts but i did take my good power supply and put it in my second pj and it fired up fine but it was flickering the same as the first one

this makes not alot of sense to me but i guess that it must be s fault in the power supply board that makes it flicker.

Im going to try to get one of the power supplys repaired or try to source a good one.
