1341 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ashmostro
I know these are very basic but i would love some help. I own a

sony 60 inch xbr2 and

samsung 40A550

I have the getgray dvd but not sure on how to use it...

1. So do i have to calibrate different for my ps3, wii, 360 and tv or can it all be the same?

2. how effective is it to use the calibrations that people post here?

3. what else do i need to be aware of?

also i have surround sound and i have calibrated that, so i don't need help in the sound just the visual.... thanks

1. Can't do TV directly so cross your fingers and hope the PS3 version gets you close. You should put the disc into the 360 to see what DVD looks like there, but it won't replicate HD gaming though unless the xbox has hdmi.

2. Other people's settings. Shot in the dark ... maybe better than presets ... maybe worse. Depends on what DVD players they are using and what lighting conditions they have to arrive at the numbers. also assumes they set up their DVD player correctly or the TV too. Lots of if ... if if if if ...

Also depends on if the TV they have and the DVD player has the same production variance to all the capacitors and resistors that go into building the TV and DVD player. Because we all know that this stuff is built to military specifications.

Michael's last paragraph tells you a lot of the set is analog and is why values can't be copied. If they were all digital values could be copied as the amount of circuit gain above minimum is not used and why expensive and cheap HDMI cables work equally well.
wow all that is wayyyyyyyyyy over my head.

Get Gray has its own instructions at the web site where you download it.

If that is too much for you to handle, then you are just better off copying the settings of other people and crossing your fingers ...

"Life's like a box of cho-co-lates ..."

Or you pay a pro to come in and do it all for you. (Doesn't sound like an option for you)
