OK. I am in the final stages of my theater setup, but I've come up against a problem. I have a Pioneer VSX-D608 DD & DTS receiver, and an older Pioneer VXS-451 Prologic receiver. The 451 is to be used to run a passive sub and more importantly, 4 bass shakers. I have the sub out on the 608 split with 1 connection going to my powered sub, and the other going to my 451 as an input (I've plugged it into the CD input jacks, but have tried others, LD, etc). Anyhow, I don't hear anything from the passive sub, or feel anything from the bass shakers (all of which are plugged into the front speaker outputs on the 451) unless the 451 is cranked WAY up. I'm talking about 85%-90% of maximum volume. I have tried turning up the sub woofer output to +10dB on the 608 to see what would happen, and really nothing... Is there anything I can do to get more volume? I put the receiver (451) on AM/FM mode, and I hear the radio, and feel the sound, and at normal levels, but as soon as I use the input from the 608's sub woofer output, it is very quiet. Please help!!!!!

OK. It is now late January. I am still stuck on this problem. I haven't had a chance to finish my theater up to this point due to the hours I put in at work the last few months for Y2K. Well, now that Y2K has come and gone, I want to finish this up. If ANYONE has any ideas abou this problem, PLEASE let me know. Thanks

It could very well be the bass managment system on the receiver is filtering the low end and all that is going to the shakers is info above 80hz.

This is most likly the case.

Also just for kicks try testing the bass shaker with a 9 volt battery to make sure they are working ok.
