Didn't see this posted anywhere here.

Should be interesting to compare this to the upcoming HD-DVD (and probably Blu-ray) release. Should look great in HD, though.

I have a feeling its not going to be OAR!
Reminder to all D* TC and TC+ customers that this weekend is a free preview of TC Premier, so you can see Batman in HD even if you don't usually have HBO.

I have a feeling you're right. Sucks for a movie like this especially. Movies like this with some good action just beg for that wide aspect ratio. At least it gives you something else to look forward to in the eventual hi def disc release.
so can anyone find out definitively whether or not this is going to be shown OAR? what's HBO's track record on this? i seem to distintly remember that hbo crops movies to 1.78 to 1 while SHO routinely shows tem OAR, but there have been exceptions both ways.

as a person not yet willing to spring $500 for half baked technology just yet (HDDVD), this airing has me VERY excited...
Never know for sure until it airs, but based on past history it will be cropped. Does HBO have all the annoying sales pop-ups (during the movie) during free preview weekends?
Should be interesting to see the HBO-HD vs. HD DVD comparisons when the HD version is released in the upcoming weeks.
This one is 2.35 unmatted, so it should look like crap cropped to 1.78. Some of the fighting scenes (especially in the prison camp) are very close up. I just can't see how they'll get it on the screen without a lot of pan and scan.

I know some people are glad to get anything just as long HD, but I'm not one of them.
Do yourself a favor:

Go out and get a $500 Toshiba HD-DVD player and wait for this baby to come out. It is coming soon :).

or we could just wait until saturday when they'll hopefully show it OAR for free (or $12)...
The fact that there will soon be an OAR HD alternative to HBO makes the channel even more useless.

have you taken a look at the quantity and quality of available titles in hd dvd? i'd say channels like hbo won't be useless for quite sometime...
